Da Ding Ding, of Mongolian and Han ancestry, is a singer, songwriter, and dancer. This talented artist sings in Mandarin, Sanskrit, Tibetan, as well as an imaginary self-created language to evoke the emotions in her songs and to help people who are listening to them, understand what she is trying to bring to them.
Sa Ding Ding was interviewed and she shared with ICOM students how she started singing and what her second album’s music was based on. She took everyone who attended the workshop on a journey into the mountains deep into the Chinese lands and mountains.
At the end, people were excited with questions. Ding Ding replied every answer with patience and preciseness. She even performed a small part of her song “Yun Yun Nan Nan”, taking everyone on a imaginary journey through the clouds.

>Smart Practise Techniques and Maximising your Potential
During this week’s Weekly Workshop Series, the students of ICOM had the privilege to sit in for a talk on Smart Practice Techniques and Maximizing your Potential from Marques Young. As an obsessive lover of creative art through sound and spreading it to the world, Marques performs regularly in New York and abroad. His musical journey started when he was playing the Euphonium at the age of 12, and by 16, he started playing the trombone.
Throughout the two hours of this workshop, Marques shared methods and experiences with our eager-learning students. He shared with them all the techniques he would use during his daily practice and explain why these methods or techniques are important. At the end of the clinic, students were showered with ideas and were ready to go home and start practicing on their instrument.
Stay tuned for our Weekly Workshop Series every Monday at International College of Music!
