The ICOM CD, launched
by ICOM’s President & CEO, Ms Irene
Savaree features a selection of nine original
songs/music tracks, all composed, arranged
and performed by ICOM students and staff across
the contemporary music styles of Blues, Jazz,
Rock and Ethnic Fusion. “Groove to a
Different Beat” is an introduction to
the public on the ICOM education which carefully
balances academia with the vocational skills
of music composition, performance, arranging
and music production”, said Mr. Ravimaran
Savari, Vice-President of Operations and Executive
Producer of the ICOM CD.
The production team comprising over forty
students from ICOM’s Bachelor of Music
(Hons) in Professional Music, the Berklee
Transfer Programme and the Foundation Certificate
in Music programme worked closely under the
musical guidance of Mr. Frank Ong, Head of
Performance at ICOM. “The students were
given the creative licenses to tinker about
with all things musical - we set no boundaries.
And the result was indeed an exclusive fusion
of musical expressions,” said Mr. Ong,
who is also the album producer.
The CD was recorded, mixed and mastered at
ICOM’s state-of-the-art recording studio
and music production facilities. “What
the students did, listened to, wrote, experienced
- it was a near perfect replica of what goes
on in the industry today. It was an invaluable
experience for them, superb exposure training,
“ said Mr. Nilesh Thomas, the Senior
Faculty - Music Production & Technology.
