Bachelor of Music (Hons) in Professional Music
The Bachelor of
Music (Hons) in Professional Music is an undergraduate
degree programme and, the first of its kind
to be offered in the country which was wholly
designed and developed by ICOM. This three-year
(3) degree programme is conducted fully at ICOM.
The programme is designed
to prepare students to meet current industry
standards in both professional music composition
and production. Upon completing the core subjects,
such as ear training, acoustics, harmony,
Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI)
and music production technology, students
are given the opportunity to select from two
majors, Arranging and Music Production &
Technology. Each student is also required
to stage performances to showcase their individual
talents on their respective instruments.
ICOM is the first private
music college in Malaysia to be granted Ministry
of Education approval to offer this degree
via a '3+0' programme. Entry in to the Bachelor
of Music (Hons) in Professional Music is through
1 year of the Foundation
Certificate in Music. Therefore all in
all, the student does 4 years of study. This
programme will allow for a saving of more
than 70% in tuition fees for an equivalent
programme from a music college in the United
Kingdom or United States of America.
