Bachelor
of Music (Hons) in Professional Music - Arranging
Major
The arranging
course is geared for the creative musician who
is set on developing their writing skills for
the music industry. Students will study a wide
range of styles such as contemporary rock/pop,
R & B, jazz, classical and hybrid styles.
They will learn the techniques and understand
the concepts that will enable them to develop
their own unique voice as a composer/arranger/songwriter.
In many cases,
students will have their work performed and
recorded by fellow students at ICOM, further
increasing their learning curve as a writer.
Some shining examples of this are on the ICOM
Cd's (click
here to sample student works).
In addition to exploring musical elements such
as melody, harmony, rhythm, voice and structure,
the ICOM arranging student will also learn and
apply the technical elements needed for today's
professional arranger - MIDI sequencing and
basic recording and production techniques.
